What is the arcane power hidden in that ancient book with its anonymous maroon cover and pages filled with strange, intriguing squiggles? This is what Mark Schubert, a young professor of literature at the Göethe-Universität in Frankfurt, specialized in north European folklore, will try to discover during a night that will forever change the course of his life. A night when all the rational certainties on which his whole existence is based will be overturned.

Mark has only a few hours to unveil the book’s incredible secret if he wants to try to save his best friend from the nightmare in which he has found himself. But he will find that the price to pay can be incredibly high. In a whirlwind of frenzied situations, where dangerous criminal gangs get caught up in a desperate survival in nightmarish worlds, Mark will have to engage in a frenetic race against time to resolve the situation before it’s too late.
